The team at Fiber Optic Cabling Specialists, Inc. brings over 50 years of expertise in the installation of fiber optic connectivity products to the industry.
We have been involved in optical fiber technology and cabling installations since the industry’s inception in the early 1980’s and participated in the installation, field termination and splicing of the first fiber optic cables ever deployed. We are well-known and respected in New England as experts in the fiber optic cabling installation industry.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our goal is to provide the highest quality workmanship available at affordable pricing while creating sound business relationships and maintaining a reputation of honesty and integrity.
The Future of Copper Cabling Systems
Network speeds will continue to increase and future bandwidth requirements will make obsolete the copper network cabling systems installed today. Today’s copper cabling systems are at the point of maximum potential, designed only to support current defined specified 10GB network speeds to the workstation.
The possibility of a new advanced Category rated, cabling solution beyond todays Category 6A offerings that can support the next generation of networking speeds of 25GB, 40GB or higher at the 90-meter structured cabling limitation distance is unlikely, if not impossible.
An affordable, simple, and logical advanced cabling system beyond those that can support 10GB today is doubtful due to its potential extensive size, cost, and difficulty of working with. The new emerging Category 8 cabling standard is designed for short runs of 5-30 meters within a data center only, not workstation cabling.
The continued evolution of copper cabling systems from Category 3, Category 5, Category 5E, Category 6 and now Category 6A will cease to exist. New deployments in optical fiber networking technologies such as the PON network architecture (Passive Optical Network) will be looked at to satisfy the never-ending demand for higher network speeds. An optical fiber based enterprise network cabling infrastructure would virtually eliminate the need to constantly upgrade a communications cabling system.
The Future of Fiber Optic Cabling Systems
Today’s OM3 and OM4 50um laser-optimized fibers are only a stopgap solution within the fiber optic premise cabling industry as well. OM3 and OM4 laser optimized fibers are designed to support 10GB over relatively short distances specified at 300 meters and 500 meters respectively.
The only guaranteed media for the future of communications cabling is singlemode fiber. Singlemode fiber has enormous bandwidth, estimated to be in the hundreds of terahertz range over very long distances.
Installing singlemode fibers in conjunction with multimode fiber today is recommended and ensures your network cabling infrastructure can withstand the current and future communication demands.
